So we are to write briefly about the elusive, slippery and mysterious thing known as "idea creation".
Idea creation vs inspiration ?
I simply cannot say anything about how other people go about idea creation.
I can only go by what I have found by experience.
So far I have no real way of going about"summoning" ideas or inspiration.
Most often I will be somewhere and see or hear something that seems to just kick start ideas going and I will have between 5 and 30 mins of solid idea time.
Once I was "in the zone" and could on demand just come up with excellent ideas right on the spot, I was even able to test by just"doing" something and sure enough it came out great.
That has only reallty ever happened once like that.
as a musician, inspiration never usually strikes when needed.
Its a lot like the poor star from THE GREATES AMERICAN HERO hahahaha.
Certain things definately put me in a better state than others though.
Looking at technical drawings or pics in google sketch up seem to inspire at leats the desire to get started drudging through crap ideas until I get something worth spending hours polishing.
Idea creation for me is generally a drudgery.
One thing tends to help a lot and that is new things and or places.
New software can help get me going as part of the idea creation is in the exploration of the new thing.
Iva Davies from Icehouse said once thats its like a given for him, if he needs to write a new song, he buys a new peice of gear hahaha.
Yeah thats cool.
Prescribed methods on idea creation tend to have little benifit to me.
I dont like the idea of forcing things together to "see what might happen".
I believe more in pure inspiration or find something that lends favourably from the outset that can be polished.
